400EX

Everything about Honda 400EX - information, reviews, details and guides to improve performance of your 400EX ATV.

400EX is a ATV. ATV stands for all-terrain vehicle. That term refers to a quad, quad bike, three wheeler or four wheeler. According to standards, 400EX is ATV that has low pressure tires and a seat that is straddled by the driver. For steering control it has got handlebars.

Depending on the country you are in, 400ex might or might not be street-legal vehicle. It isn’t legal in larger part of Australia, USA and Canada.

The 400EX ATV is driven almost like a motorcycle. The only big difference is the number of wheels. ATVs usually have between three and six wheels. That makes them more stable at slower speeds.

Even though technology is developing really fast, the biggest concern remains safety. Until today, a lot of people – especially kids – had had major injuries because of ATV or better said – because of high speed, not wearing helmet etc. It is extremely important to follow ALL safety rules to minimize the risk of injury or even worse – death.

After we’ve gone through the safety issues, it’s time to increase the speed of our ATV. This is by no means an easy process, but I’ll try to describe it.

First of all you be ready to spend some money. Without money, you can’t do anything to help your 400EX go faster. You need to buy new piston and new camshaft. You could buy piston with high of a compression, but then you will have to use race oil which is kinda expensive. Let’s say that you should aim for compression up to 10:1.

After that you should get the best possible air flow. You can get that by changing your exhaust and air filter. You should do that by replacing those parts with after market ones. There are really numerous 400EX parts to choose from.

To increase the speed, you nee a new carburator and that part can be really expensive. Logically, after going through so big changes, you will need better back tires because your older ones simply won’t be able to cut it.

As Honda 400EX ATV is actually all-terrain vehicle – it can go off-road in pretty much every condition no matter what’s going on around you. Because of that, it could get damaged. To prevent that, you need nerf bars. That is a popular addition to the every ATV. It adds protection to the front end as well as improves the look of your 400EX Honda.

First step is to take 3/8 inch ratchet and socket and unbolt the stock hardware from the front foot pegs, heel guards, and the front lower motor mounts frame.

The next step is to bolt the right side of the nerf bar to the front lower motor mount by using the tools and hardware provided by manufacturer. Then bolt the nerf bar to the foot peg as well.

Take a drill and drill a hole in the peg. Then bolt the nerf bar once again using 3/8inch ratchet and socket. After that, it’s all just the matter of repeating those steps for the other side as well. Just watch out for male receiver of the tubing and the female end. Make sure that it fits together tightly.

Honda 400EX is definitely a great ATV choice for you
